Nanette began her career in education in 2006 after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University. She began her teaching career at Baker Elementary in Baker, Oregon. Nanette obtained a Master’s in Math Education and an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Walden University. After 8 years of teaching, Nanette became an administrator at Baker Elementary in 2015 and served as the Principal.
She has been recognized as a leader of innovation on several occasions:
- 2013 Oregon State Teacher of the Year
- 2014 National Education Association Global Fellowship Award
- 2010 OCTM Area Recognition Award for Math Excellence
- 2010 Math Cadre Leadership Award
- 2006 Boise State University Elementary Education Research Award
Nanette has also spoken publicly for several years. At her speaking engagements, she lifts and inspires those around her; motivating others to dig deep and develop their abilities. “Nanette is a passionate teacher leader whose work both in the classroom and in staff development has earned her the respect, admiration, and trust of her colleagues, parents, and students,” said Deputy Superintendent Rob Saxton. “She exemplifies the qualities we look for in outstanding teachers – creativity, dedication, a love of learning, mastery of content, and a true commitment to excellence.” When not pouring her heart into the profession she loves, Nanette enjoys time with her family, playing games and supporting the Boise State Broncos.
Rebekah has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Lewis-Clark State College. She is married and has three children who all attend Gem Prep: Nampa, where she substitute taught and served as Vice President on the PTO. Rebekah is excited to continue to be a part of Gem Prep in Meridian. In her spare time, Rebekah enjoys knitting and sewing and spending time with her family and dogs.
